alette is a renovation design and material tracking application developed by Amy Tourte LLC. we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal data remains secure and under your control.

information we collect

data you provide

when you use alette, you may provide:

  • material images (photos you take or upload)
  • material names, descriptions, and notes
  • product tags and categories
  • product URLs and source information
  • project names and organization details
  • email address (for account creation)

data we do not collect

we aim to minimize data collection. we do not sell your data or use advertising identifiers. our infrastructure may process limited technical information (such as ip address, timestamps, and basic device or browser information) for security, reliability, and operation:

  • location data
  • device identifiers
  • usage analytics
  • advertising identifiers
  • any data from other apps
  • your contacts or photo library (except images you explicitly select)
  • any data beyond what you explicitly enter

how we store your data

your data is stored in two places:

  1. on your device: local storage for immediate access and offline functionality
  2. encrypted cloud storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL database and Storage) with industry-standard encryption

your data is associated with your account and is only accessible to you when you log in.

how we use your data

we use your data solely to:

  • display your materials and projects in the app
  • sync your data across your devices
  • provide AI-powered product recognition (optional)
  • generate material specifications for export
  • enable sharing of material information

we do NOT:

  • sell your data to third parties
  • share your data with advertisers
  • use your data for marketing purposes
  • analyze your data for any purpose beyond app functionality
  • track your behavior or usage patterns
  • access your images or data without your explicit permission

ai product recognition

when you use the optional AI recognition feature:

  • images are temporarily processed to identify products
  • recognition data is used only to suggest product information
  • we do not store or train models on your images
  • you can choose not to use this feature at any time

data sharing

we do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to any third parties.

your data is yours. we do not routinely review your personal material information. access may occur only when:

  • you explicitly request support and grant us permission
  • required by law (we have never received such a request)

third-party services

alette uses:

  • Supabase: for secure data storage and authentication
  • Expo: for app infrastructure

product links and external retailers

when you save product URLs or use sharing features:

  • we store the URL you provide
  • clicking external links takes you to third-party websites
  • those websites have their own privacy policies
  • we are not responsible for third-party privacy practices

your rights

you have the right to:

  • access: view all your data within the app
  • export: download a copy of your data at any time
  • delete: delete your account and all associated data at any time
  • modify: change or update any of your data

how to delete your data

to delete your account and all data:

  1. open alette
  2. go to settings
  3. tap "delete account"
  4. confirm deletion

or contact us at hello@amytourte.com and we will delete your account within 7 days.

once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

data security

we implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data:

  • encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • encryption at rest
  • secure authentication
  • regular security updates
  • minimal data collection principles

children's privacy

alette is intended for users aged 18 and older. we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

changes to this policy

we may update this privacy policy from time to time. we will notify you of changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "last updated" date.
